When Justine was completing research for her doctoral degree in Cultural Anthropology with an emphasis on embodiment in South Asian contexts, she was living in rural South India studying dance at the state academy for performing arts. She had long suffered from chronic shoulder pain which was exacerbated by long hours of classical Indian dance practice. Her yoga practice wasn't hurting things, but it wasn't really getting to the root of her long-term intensive pain.

AFTER FINDING AYURVEDA

and a few months of taking Ayurvedic herbs, adjusting her diet, and making some lifestyle adjustments, Justine was, and continues to be

COMPLETELY PAIN FREE

It just so happenend that Justine and her husband befriended a young Muslim gentleman who was keen to improve his English. The young man's father was the first (perhaps only) Muslim Ayurvedic phramacist in Kerala. Ayurveda, or the science of life, was traditionally a Hindu cultural practice, so it was unusual to find a Muslim Ayurvedic pharmacist.

Through her friendship with Shaheem (the young man), Justine and her husband began to spend long hours in the rice paddies at the Ayurvedic pharmacy. Justine began to learn about Ayurveda.

It was after Justine completed her PhD and returned to the US that she met her main teacher of Ayurveda, Dr. Paul Dugliss, and began to formally train as an Ayuredic practitioner.

After a few months of study Justine began to understand the root cause of her pain and the imbalance that she had been living with for many years. Justine had been afflicted with this pain for almost 15 years. At times it was so severe that she couldn't lift her arms to pull on a shirt.

Now with her understanding and practice of Ayurveda, Justine was, and continues to be

LIVING IN BALANCE.
